Price River Rafting - Utah Rafting Companies
Price River, rated a Class II to Class V, is generally divided up into two stretches of whitewater; Middle Price and Lower Price, before it joins up with the Green River to the south.
The Middle Price is slated as starting just about at Price City, running 23 miles down to US Hwy 6/191, where the Lower Price begins. An occasionally hazardous stretch of whitewater, it's rated between Class III - Class V, the Class V being given more due to the steep drops, numerous rock gardens, debris, sharp rocks, holes, waterfalls and small landings, making it more difficult than it otherwise would be. This is usually a multi-day trip river, as access is limited once away from Price City.
The Lower Price, starting its run just below US Hwy 6/191 and continuing to the Green River at Gray Canyon, is rated a Class II to Class V run. This stretch will challenge boaters with its steep drops and narrow gorges, then wow them with incredible and remote scenery that will bring to mind the dinosaur era. This stretch of the Price is primarily for experienced kayakers and canoeists, though those in a canoe will be best to prepare to line or portage over drops that are unrunnable for a canoe. Always check the USGS guage at Woodside for flow readings before leaving on this trip, as flood conditions can make the river extremely hazardous and ill advised to run.
Whichever section of the Price River you decide to tackle, always be sure to check water flow, bring emergency equipment, and above all, be sure you're running a river that matches your experience level. We want to see you back again.
